[Video] We are all Bostonians: American Sports teams honor Boston Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox
For the last 5 years, I have been a Boston Celtics blogger. Rarely swaying my attention or coverage, I usually stick to my sport... most of the CLNS Beat teams are thankful for that.
Today, as the events of April 15, 2013 continue to penetrate the hearts and minds of all Americans, it's hard for me not to extend you the images and sounds of the tributes of all sports teams around the country.
As the city of Boston mourns and attempts to recover, the rest of the nation joins together in their prayers and pride in New England's display of strength, courage and unity. As we've seen all over the country, this week everyone is a Bostonian, even the dreaded New York Yankees paid tribute.
As my Boston Celtics are priming up for what should be a classic first round series with the New York Knicks, the Boston Bruins were taking on the Buffalo Sabres in the first sporting event at TD Garden since tragedy struck. We will start our brief tour around North America on Causeway Street.
This video is heart-wrenching and makes me swell with pride all at the same time.
While the home-crowd at TD Garden were united and took over the singing of the National Anthem, in Toronto, Canadians were showing their support to the Boston Celtics. As the starting line-ups were announced, Sweet Caroline serenaded the starting 5 of Boston and, instead of the usual boos that would accompany the road team, the Toronto fans rained cheers of support and well-wishes on the Celtics.
While sporting events were still canceled in Boston, the rest of our nation's teams paid tribute in various ways. Possibly the most stirring tribute came from the Boston Red Sox most loathed rival of over a century. On April 16th, Yankee Stadium spewed tones of Neil Diamond's Sweet Carolyn. The New York fans joined in with celebration, pride and support for rivals from the north. Proving that, even in sports, everyone is a Bostonian this week.
Here are some of the other visuals from the sports world across the USA...

Congratulations to CelticsBlog on 9 amazing years!
Congratulations to Jeff Clark and the staff of CelticsBlog!
CLNS Radio has had the fortune of partnering with CelticsBlog this season. After 4 years in the "blogging business," I found out their was a hell of a lot that I didn't know about the business. That was until crashing Jeff Clark's 9th season blogging!Clark and his staff have been a tremendous extended family for CLNS Radio, even granting us a prime piece of reality on the coveted CelticsBlog. They have supported our efforts, encouraged our expansion and proven that the Celtics/NBA blogosphere is not the cut-throat, competitive environment it sometimes appears to be. Instead, it's actually a passionate community of people, welcoming newbies into their family for the better good of following the team we all love.Jeff and his community of Celtics-bloggers set the bar very high 9 years ago and are continuing to elevate all of our standards today. We owe Jeff and company a debt of gratitude for blazing the way for all of us "new-comers," while not just welcoming new members to their own community but by always making CLNS feel like a part of their extended family. So, while the fine folks over at CelticsBlog are sipping their champagne today, B-Paul and I are sending a bottle their way. Thanks CelticsBlog! We all owe you a debt of gratitude. Happy Birthday!Go Celtics!Click here for Jeff Clark's Reflections on 9 amazing years | Check out CLNS Radio's work on CelticsBlogDanny Ainge: Kevin Garnett injury not a repeat of 2009
Danny Ainge
Fans of the Boston Celtics still have 2009 fresh in their minds. The on and off again rhetoric from Celtics' front office officials teased fans with a possible return to action for Garnett. That was until the front office shut Garnett down, the week leading up to the payoffs.
Fans were certainly jaded. It was further displayed during a similar situation with Shaq' in 2011.
Ainge furthered his statement when admitting that Garnett should not require any off-season surgeries this year.
"I don't think that surgery is inevitable or we need to get through the year and he's going to go in for surgery right after the year. That's the difference between (2009) and now. What we're doing is we're doing what we think is best for KG's long-term health, and what's best for the team," Ainge said. "Usually it goes hand-in-hand, what's best for the player, and his future, is usually what's best for the team as well. But I don't know if KG could play tonight if tonight was a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. My guess is he probably could. But I don't know how good he would be. He does have a little bit of a limp, but it doesn't matter. Right now, it's best for him not to play on it and aggravate it."
Sounds like we will see very little of Garnett in the next 7-10 days. That's not a negative as the C's veterans require as much rest as possible to insure their freshness entering the second season.
Stay tuned for more updates.

A Blog from the desk of Nick Gelso...
Today, our Australian friend, Nate Bennett, posted this video on my Facebook time-line. Wow!Between the tears of pride and the chills that ran up and down my spine, a waive of nostalgia ran thru my mind.***
I had a planned a column for today. The concept has been rolling around my skull for days now. I've found, as this network grows into an animal of it's own, I find it more and more difficult to write. My energy seems to focus more on the daily tasks of running a large sports radio network, and less on the fun things. Things like sharing my feelings with you; isn't that why Brandon and I started this whole thing so many years ago?As the animal grows up, we lose site of the important things - the reasons why people came to North Station Sports, Gino's Jungle and now CLNS in the first place.Proper Journalism is of paramount importance today. CLNS Credibility is always in the forefront. However, you all came here so many years ago because of honesty. Heart felt writing from the likes of Brandon Paul (B-Paul), Lee Herman, Calvin Chamberlain, Matt Rury and [I'd like to think] yours truly. Back in the day, we all shot from the hip. We wore our heart on our green cuff links. We spoke about the passion of fans. The labor of love. The adoration of all things green - well, maybe not Calvin. This video brings back those feelings - the ones that inspire me. The ones that allow my fingers to grow a mind of their own, as the bang down on the keypad.***
This video, provided by Nate, illustrates the greatness that the Boston Celtics have been the last 6 seasons. More strongly, it displays the changes the team has made. It shows Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen, growing into champions, and trying to defend their crown. It shows them at their lowest, when their championship was stolen by the LA Lakers one year later. It shows their struggles to return to the big stage in 2010. But, most importantly, this video shows how team must possesses chemistry when it's elite. The cohesion of the 2007 thru 2012 teams were undeniable. Pierce, Garnett, Rondo and Allen were like one person, morphed into four bodies. These were the glory years for this generation of fans. Much like I harp on the greatness of the original Big Three, this video shows how, 10 years from now, we will all be talking about how we witnessed greatness in green during the Big FOUR era. Those were the days!
