Boston Red Sox Pregame Notes 08/09/15

Here is a look at your Red Sox Pregame notes prior to the Tigers-Sox game on Sunday afternoon

Despite a 3-hit game from David Ortiz, the Detroit Tigers (54-56) got the last laugh over the Boston Red Sox (49-62) as Victor Martinez sent the Motor City crowd happy with a 7-6 victory in game two on Saturday evening.

After not trading Mike Napoli at the July 31st non-waiver trade deadline, the Boston Red Sox pulled the trigger on the burly first baseman, sending him to the Texas Rangers with cash for a player to be named later.

After leading for the majority of the game behind Wade Miley, Junichi Tazawa gave up two big runs in the 8th inning on Sunday, as the Tampa Bay Rays (52-54) snip the Boston Red Sox (47-59), 4-3 and salvage the final game of the series.

The wheels are officially in motion with the MLB trade deadline just four days away, as outfielder Shane Victorino has been traded to the Los Angeles Angels for infielder Josh Rutledge.

The Boston Red Sox (44-55) finally broke through in a huge way on offense against the Detroit Tigers (48-50) on Sunday Night Baseball, scoring their most runs since July 2 and most hits all season in a 11-1 win to take the series.

Pedro Martinez joined fellow Hall Of Famers Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio on Sunday afternoon in Cooperstown to make his HOF speech.
