Bullpen falters as Red Sox drop rubber game to Royals 6-4

Written by

The Red Sox had a chance to win their fourth consecutive series but their normally reliable bullpen struggled to find the plate and blew their first save in 21 opportunities thanks to Royals catcher Salvador Perez's first career grand slam in the eighth inning gave Kansas City a 6-4 lead. The Royals would keep that lead and take the rubber game of the series.

The bullpens implosion spoiled a strong start from Drew Pomeranz and Andrew Benintendi and Xander Bogaerts hit back to back home runs in the fourth inning to tie the game up at 2-2.
