The Red Sox are adding another weapon back into their rotation as their obnoxiously large contractual obligation, David Price, is slated to make his return from injury (elbow) this upcoming Monday against the Chicago White Sox.
Price was sent to see Dr. James Andrews back in the beginning of March which usually announces some large troubles on the horizon. However, Boston collectivly breathed a sigh of relief when it was announced that Price would not need the dreaded Tommy John surgery and time and workouts would eventually heal the elbow pain.
Price experienced elbow pain at the very end of February at Spring Training and has been working his way back to starting form since that time.
He has thrown two rehab starts in AAA Pawtucket where he was knocked around both times. In his most recent start on Wednesday, Price lasted just 3.2 innings throwing 89 pitches (61 strikes) giving up six runs (three earned) on seven hits.
Price's velocity has been about where it needs to be landing somehwhere between 92-96MPH, but it is his command that has been the focal point of the issues.
