Two Boston players underwent offseason surgery after being eliminated from the playoffs, the team confirmed on Tuesday.
Forward Patrice Bergeron and goalie Tuukka Rask both had procedures done and are expected to be ready to begin the 2017-18 season.
Bergeron's surgery was to repair a sports hernia he said he had been dealing with for the entire year. He had 21 goals on the season and earned himself a nomination for the Selke Trophy.
Rask underwent a procedure to repair his right groin. The goalie never showed he was injured, however, making some incredible butterfly saves and helped the Bruins through four overtime games in an unsuccessful first round of the NHL playoffs.
He had a 37-20-5 record on the season with a .915 save percentage that included eight shutouts.
