As NHL free agency is set to begin at noon on July 1st, the Boston Bruins have already struck a deal with a young winger that could deliver a scoring punch.
My sources tell me Boston Bruins have signed AHL MVP Kenny Agostino to 1-year free-agent contract. Worth $850k

Agostino, 25, tore up the American Hockey League last year with the Chicago Wolves, and was named the AHL MVP. He notched 24 goals and 59 assists with a +24 rating in 65 regular season games with the Blues’ affiliate, and added another ten points (five goals and five assists) in the postseason. He also scored one goal and had two assists in seven games with St. Louis last season.
Agostino spent four years at Yale University after being drafted in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2010. He scored 56 goals and had 76 assists in his collegiate stint, and played eight games with the Calgary Flames after his senior season in 2013-14. He had 43 points in 67 games with the Adirondack Flames in 2014-15, and 57 points in 65 games with the Stockton Heat in 2015-16.
The move to add a 25-year-old left winger that has the potential to contribute right away is a perfect low-risk, high-reward move for the Bruins. They were lacking in wingers on their rosters, especially after the team waived Jimmy Hayes and moved on from Drew Stafford (among others) earlier on Friday. The B’s are clearly looking to get younger and faster, and Agostino is just the type of player that could fit both of those molds.
