Rob Ninkovich Agrees to Extension with New England Patriots

Written by

The New England Patriots and starting right defensive end Rob Ninkovich on Sunday agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2016 season

Ninkovich who came to New England in the 2009 season by way of Miami and New Orleans, has developed into a solid player.   He is one of the key cogs in the defensive rebuilding.  His ability to set the edge on the run as well as get after the passer has endeared him to Patriots fans.  He also leads the league with 10 fumble recoveries since the 2010 season.

The Patriots seem to be bucking the trend of letting their key players get to free agency.  In the last few years they have resigned Vince Wilfork, Rob Gronkowsi, and Jerrod Mayo among others.

Next up for the Patriots are possible extenstions for Aqib Talib and Devin McCourty
