EASLEY ON BOARD
The first step toward actually putting on a New England Patriot game day jersey occurred Monday when Dominique Easley signed his first NFL contract. The second step will be to take the field when training camp officialy opens July 24 in Foxboro.
This was just a formality. With draft pick dollars pretty well slotted, everyone knew it was coming shortly, but it is one more thing out of the way as the rookie goes down his road to recovery. Easley tore his ACL in 2011 and 2013 while at Florida, but did recover enough to practice for the first time last Thursday on the final day of mini-camp..
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport released the following information on Twitter:
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet · 1st round DL Dominique Easley signed a 4-year, $7.3M contract with a $3.63M signing bonus, source said. 80% of it is guaranteed.
Easley, 22, was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the 29th selection overall out of Florida. The 6-foot-2, 288-pounder started in 26 of 32 games over his four year career and finished with 81 total tackles, 5 ½ sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed.
