After appearing in front of a judge earlier Thursday afternoon, Patriots CB Alfonzo Dennard received his sentencing for a probation violation
Dennard received a one year extension to his probation, 100 hours of additional community service, a no-alcohol condition, and 30 added days to Dennard’s jail sentence which is set to begin on March 1st.
The Patriots cornerback was initially arrested weeks before the 2012 draft after reports said assaulted a police officer, and was given a two year probation, as well as a 30 day suspended jail sentence for March 2014.
Dennard admitted on September 16th that he had violated his probation by consuming alcohol before his July 11th arrest in which he was given a DUI. He has not admitted guilt to being drunk behind the wheel, and stated he only had two beers, four and a half hours before getting into the car.
The sentencing does not affect Dennard’s playing time, as he can finish out the season with the Patriots. Although fighting a knee injury, Dennard is the Patriots second best cornerback behind fellow starter Aqib Talib.
