The New York Jets announced Thursday that they have signed safety Ed Reed.
The 35-year-old former Pro-Bowler cleared waivers Wednesday, a day after being released from the Houston Texans. By Thursday morning Reed was already practicing with his new team and should be available to play Sunday against the Bills.
Reed’s decision to join the Jets reunites him with head coach Rex Ryan, who was a defensive coach for the Baltimore Ravens from 1999-2009. Prior to this season, Reed spent his entire career with the Ravens.
After taking on the Bills Sunday, the Jets’ next opponent is, you guessed it, the Ravens.
