New England Patriots add depth in secondary

Written by

The New England Patriots re-signed CB Marquice Cole Wednesday, just five days after releasing the veteran. Cole was released by the Patriots on Sept. 27 after playing on special teams in the first three games of the 2013 season.

Cole, 29, is in his fifth NFL season, and his second with the Patriots after a three-year stint with the Jets from 2009-11.

The Patriots also re-signed rookie S Kanorris Davis to the practice squad Wednesday. Davis was signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Saturday, Sept. 28, and played on special teams in the victory over Atlanta on Sunday. He was then released by the Patriots on Monday.

Davis, 23, originally joined the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Troy on May 3, 2013. The 5-foot-10, 207-pounder played as a linebacker in college, where he helped Troy win the Sun Belt Conference Championship in 2011 and 2012.
