New England Patriots vs Atlanta Falcons Preview

Written by

The New England Patriots travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons tonight.  This will be the Patriots first true test of the season. The Patriots enter the game with a perfect record of three wins and zero loses.  Atlanta will tell us if the Patriots are as good as thier record or a product of poor opponents. The Falcons are three point favorites tonight.  Check out all the nfl lines here SportsBettingOnline.ag

While the Falcons only have one win on the season, they are a very good team.  The receiving duo of Roddy White and Julio Jones will be a test. While running back Steven Jackson will not be playing, the running game for Atlanta has been in good hands with Jason Snelling and Jaquizz Rodgers.

What to watch for.

Tom Brady and the developing chemistry with his recievers

Last week Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson looked better than they had in the weeks prior.  There is still alot of work to be done. You can see the work needed here. Brady needs to step up more this week against a better team.

Running game needs to get on track.

Stevan Ridley has had a tough start to the season.  He was essentially benched for Shane Vereen after two fumbles against the Bills.  He has yet to get on track.  Last week he carried the ball just 11 times for only 35 yards.  On the season he is averaging 3.4 yards per carry.  With the passing game still a work in progress, some expected Ridley to deliver. He hasn't as of yet. Back ups Legarrette Blount and Brandon Boldin could start to see more carries. It was interesting last week that it was Bount that got the close out carries ahead of Ridley.

Patritots defensive backs versus Julio Jones and Roddy White.

Talib and Dennard have been playing together for less than a year.  They have however done some very nice work together.  This will be their biggest challange of the season.  Both will have to cover well for the Patriots to stay in this game.  Julio Jones is tied for the reception lead in the NFL with Julien Edelman.

While some have said the Patriots are a soft undefeated team, they are still winning the games they need to.  The defense has stepped up and won games.  They face a very good offense.  The Patriots offense should be able to continue to grow cohesion.  I believe the Patriots will keep this game close, but in the end lose to a desperate Falcons team.

Final: Falcons 24 Patriots 21
