Danny Amendola was present at Patriots practice Wednesday morning and seen running with his teammates according to the Boston Herald. Amendola practiced Monday as well, but reports have Amendola moving much better Wednesday morning. He clearly isn’t at full speed yet, but it certainly is encouraging to see him running at practice. Amendola originally appeared destined for sports hernia surgery to repair his torn adductor muscle, but he has opted to forgo surgery in favor of siting out a few more weeks.
It’s still unclear exactly when Rob Gronkowski will return, but it should be within the next two weeks. Without Amendola unavailable for at least a few more weeks, the Patriots will continue to lean on Julian Edelman as their primary offensive weapon for at least one more week. Once Gronkowski returns, he should take pressure of off the entire offense as a game-changing weapon. In the meantime Julian Edelman should receive the most targets from Tom Brady against Tampa on Sunday.
