Report: Danny Amendola may require surgery for sports hernia

Written by

Danny Amendola has torn adductor muscles, according to a report by Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer.

Glazer says the Patriots’ receiver has received conflicting reports from doctors about whether or not he also has a sports hernia – an injury that would require surgery but would have him back on the field in “about a month”.

Amendola reportedly sought additional opinions Sunday but no word yet on whether any conclusions have been reached. Even if he does not require surgery, the torn adductors (leg muscles which attach to the hip) will likely require him to miss about the same amount of time.

Either way, it appears Amendola is unlikely to take the field anytime soon.
