According to a report from Josh Alper of ProFootallTalk.com, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been removed from popular football video games NCAA football 14 and Madden NFL 25.
EA sports announced on Monday that he will not appear in Madden NFL 25 which hits shelves on August 27 and NCAA Football 14 has been edited to remove the appearance of Hernandez. Originally, players were able to win a card featuring the former Florida Gator after completing certain milestones in the game. According to the report, the company said that there was not time to change the game before tomorrow’s release. A photo surfaced on the Internet Monday which showed this card.
“We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” an EA Sports spokesperson told CBSSports.com. “The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
This is just another example of a major sports platform distancing itself from the former tight end. It will be interesting to see if there are more situations like this in the future.
