The Patriots have reached an agreement on a 2 year deal with former Raiders DT Tommy Kelly according to Ian Rapoport. Kelly was released by the Raiders on March 27th.
The Patriots are back at it, bolstering their defensive line with another veteran in Kelly. The 6-foot-6 , 325 pound defensive tackle struggled last year in Oakland recording only one sack, and six quarterback hits. Overall, he has 34 career sacks in his 9 year career.
Bill Belichick loves adding depth to his defensive line around this time of the year, so it should come as no surprise that Kelly has jumped aboard the Patriots ship. His versatility in the 3-4 and 4-3 makes him more valuable for a team like New England.
Kelly was a Pro Bowl alternate just two seasons ago, so the hope is that the Patriots can squeeze out all of the gas left in his tank.
