Patriots TE Gronkowski Getting Knocked Around: It’s a Good Thing

Written by

Patriots Rob Gronkowski might not have a defined timeline on his return. He just keeps taking steps in returning to the game, not in a rush, but getting hit in practice this week is a welcome thing to see.

“It felt good. I wasn’t like full, full contact or anything like that. It was just little routes and that kind of stuff. But I’m feeling good,” Gronkowski said, following practice Monday.“Progressed a lot out there. Overall, it just feels good to be back out there with my teammates and competing.”

Rob Gronkowski is still recovery from a torn ACL. He did one things that turned a few heads at training camp, taking part in full-pads 11-on-11 work Monday. It’s worth noting that Gronkowski still is not practising blocking in team drills, so technically he is still limited.

Gronkowski has missed so much time on the practice field, one would think, quarterback Tom Brady and Gronkowski has lost some chemistry. Such is not the case, by all reports, they have started off right where they left off. Connecting several times during drills.

"It's definitely huge to get going, be on the same page with the quarterback," Gronkowski said, "but not just the quarterback. You want to be on the same page with the wide receivers, be on different levels on the routes, just all on the same page on offense as a whole. I've been working with Tom since I've been out here, but we haven't been doing it versus a defense or anything, so it feels good to be right out there, and boom, just like it'd never missed before." via boston.com

It would appears Gronkowski is going to be ready for the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. The only question that remains to be answered, during the season, will he be there at the end of the season? Or better yet, are the Patriots not so reliant this time around? Able to make it back to another Superbowl, regardless of Gronkowski’s availability. One things for sure, their a better team with him then without him. So far it looks like they will be with him to start to year.
