Patriots DT Sealver Siliga Injury a Concern

Written by

Not good news for the New England Patriots, as one of their young talents, does not return to the practice field on Wednesday.

According to the Boston Globe and ESPN Boston reports, Sealver Siliga is heading back to Boston for tests on his left hand. The injury occurred during practice on Tuesday.

Siliga started out on the Patriots practice squad in 2013, but eventually was added to the active roster and played the final five games and both playoff games.

Next up in the depth chart? Chris Jones and Joe Vellano. Both players saw plenty of action last season. Jones was in on several plays alongside both Vince Wilfork and Tommy Kelly, during Wednesday's final practice with the Washington Redskins. The two teams meet tomorrow night, in the first Patriots preseason game of the summer.

It’s not the worst situation for the Patriots, but it’s a concern. Siliga will miss some time, but for how long? He will definitely miss Thursday's preseason game.

Players absent from Wednesday's practice: Rob Gronkowski, Jeremy Gallon, Dominique Easley, Chris Martin, Bryan Stork, Ja’Gared Davis, Michael Hoomanawanui, Cameron Gordon, DJ Williams, Brandon Bolden, Tyler Gaffney, Jemea Thomas and Aaron Dobson
