UNC Basketball: Exhibitions in the Bahamas

Written by

The Tar Heels will be playing two exbibitions games in the Bahamas starting today...

While UNC Football is about two weeks away and UNC Basketball is quite a way from starting its regular season, head coach Roy Williams and his team are about to play two exhibition games in the Bahamas. Today the Heels will faces the Providence Storm, while tomorrow the squad will take on the Bahamas All-Stars, with both games tipping off at 5:00 p.m. EST.

By NCAA rules a program can take these types of pre-season trips every four years. Under coach Williams the Tar Heels have done so twice previously, once before the 2005-06 season and the other prior to the 2010-11 campaign. Unfortunately, from what I found out on the official UNC Athletic web site, the games will have no television, radio or online coverage of either game.

Interesting enough the squad will be back in the Bahamas in about three months as the Heels will be part of the Battle for Atlantis. There they will face off against Butler in the first game, followed by either Oklahoma or UCLA.

But first thing first, as today and tomorrow the coaching staff will see what this year’s team could be like. Furthermore, win or lose, you have to believe that trips like this do a great job in gelling a team together. Time will tell, but for a group of players that many think have a big time run in 2014-15 this is the first step in a long, long road.

For more about either the UNC Basketball or Football make sure to come back to the CLNS web site on a regular basis.
