Boston Red Sox and MLB Season Preview

In this roundtable episode, Jess Thomas and Lauren Campbell give their three key aspects to the Red Sox playing well this season. They also pick Division winners, Wild Card winners and their World Series champions.

The Boston Red Sox beat the Washington Nationals 8-1 on Thursday in the final spring training game played in Florida behind a strong effort by Kyle Kendrick.

There hasn’t been a lot of positive Drew Pomeranz chatter in the recent past. Was he worth the top pitching prospect? Should the Red Sox have given him back to the Padres? Will he ever be healthy? For all these reasons, Pomeranz is my player to watch for in 2017.

With the 2017 season just around the corner, the CLNS Radio Red Sox Beat Team gives their predictions of what to expect from the team, with over/under, an x-factor, a breakout player, three bold predictions and where the team will finish this year.

Boston Red Sox 2016 Report Card: Offense

As the season has come to a close, we at CLNS Radio would like to do a report card for the 2016 Boston Red Sox.

For all players who played enough to qualify to have a grade, I give grades and reasoning for that grade to each member of the offense.

Pitching grades will be posted in a separate article. So let's get to it! Let the grades roll in!

The Boston Red Sox (93-68) fell 4-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays (88-73) after closer Craig Kimbrel gave up a run in the ninth inning of a tie game. Boston now falls 0.5 games behind the Cleveland Indians for the second best record in the American League and Toronto moves back into a tie with the Baltimore Orioles for the first Wild Card spot.

Dustin Pedroia hit his fourth grand slam of his career and second of the season in the seventh inning to propel the Boston Red Sox (91-64) to their 10th straight victory and postseason berth with a 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays (65-89) at the Trop.
