Boston Red Sox call up Rubby de la Rosa
The Red Sox will add right-hander Rubby de la Rosa to their depleted bullpen for tonight's second game against the Orioles. In a corresponding move the Red Sox sent right-hander Alex Wilson to Triple A Pawtucket, who pitched fairly well giving up one run in 2-2/3 innings.
De La Rosa was apart of the blockbuster nine player trade between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox where the Red Sox shed over 250 million dollars in contracts. De La Rosa will be the second pitcher from the previously mentioned blockbuster trade with the Dodgers to contribute at the big league level. Allen Webster the prize of the trade has made two spot starts in place of the injured John Lackey at the time. Some Triple A stats for De La Rosa are his 0-1 record and 3.29 ERA this season with the PawSox. From multiple reports it seems that De La Rosa has pitched well of late and could become a key contributor for the Sox in long relief.
Prediction on Rubby de la Rosa: 4 Starts with a 2-2 record with a 3.25 earned run average as a starter and at least 10 appearances out of the pen. The Red Sox will be cautious with De La Rosa as he is two years removed from Tommy John Surgery. Should be fun to watch one of the young prospects get to make his Boston Red Sox debut this week.
