According to a source, the Minnesota Twins have signed outfielder Jordan Parraz to a minor league deal. Parraz, 28, will report to AA New Britain on Monday.
A third round pick of the Houston Astros in the 2004 draft, Parraz has spent ten years in the minor leagues with the Astros (2004-2008), Royals (2009-2010), Yankees (2011), and Braves (2012-2013). He is a .284 lifetime hitter in the minors with 69 HR and 399 RBI, and has spent at least part of the last five years in AAA.
After getting off to a slow start in 29 games with AAA Gwinnett (.141/4 HR/8 RBI), Parraz was released by the Braves on May 10th. He heads to the Twins to provide organizational depth at the Double-A level.
