With Andrew Bailey and Joel Hanrahan on the disabled list, Red Sox Manager John Farrell said Tuesday that the team will go with right-handed pitcher Junichi Tazawa as closer for now.
Hanrahan left Monday's nights game in the middle of the ninth inning with tightness in his forearm after he blew his second save of the season. Red Sox called up 23-year-old Allen Webster from Triple-A Pawtucket to replace Hanrahan's spot. Bailey was placed on the DL last weekend with a right biceps inflammation.
Tazawa has been used a lot in a setup role this season for the Red Sox. He is 2-1 with a 2.51 ERA in 16 games with the Red Sox this season.
