With pitchers and catchers reporting to camp on Monday officially, along with several players who are already in Fort Myers earlier than they are required to be, we will be keeping you updated with tidbits of info regarding the goings-on for Red Sox spring training 2017.

The first pitchers and catchers workout is Tuesday and the first full squad workout for the entire team is Friday. Here are some notes from Day 1.

The biggest news out of the day was manager John Farrell letting the media know that Steven Wright and Drew Pomeranz are behind the rest of the players, as they work back from injuries.

Wright, of course, had his shoulder injury diving back to second base in early August and Pomeranz had a stem cell injection in his throwing elbow recently.

Neither Wright nor Pomeranz has thrown off of a mound yet and are at least a week behind with their spring training program.

Other news and notes:

Hanley Ramirez has taken David Ortiz's two lockers.

Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Andrew Benintendi (the outfield) have adjoining lockers.

Betts isn't getting ahead of himself after his MVP-type season last year. He just wants to be in the lineup. Here is more from the Globe's Peter Abraham on Betts.

Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts and Brandon Workman are the only three members of the 2013 Red Sox championship playoff roster in the organization now that Ortiz has retired.

Dave Dombrowski said that the Sox were never close to trading Benintendi for Chris Sale.

According to Abraham, Pedroia started working out in the gym after getting up at 3 a.m. Monday because he couldn't sleep.

The biggest news of the day was Jerry Remy announcing that he had another lung cancer relapse. Read more on the story from CLNS Radio's Lauren Campbell here
