Victorino Placed on 15-day DL Again

Written by

With the Red Sox adding some serious outfield depth during Thursday's trade deadline, that finally freed up a decision on Shane Victorino.

The Red Sox announced before the start of Friday's game that they have placed starting right fielder, Shane Victorino, on the 15-day disabled list with a back issue.

The move announced on Friday will be the third time that the speedy outfielder will find hind his name on the DL.

"Still some low-back tightness the other night," manager John Farrell said. "Pending the results of the MRI it will give us some definitive course of action going forward."

Victorino has already missed 71 games total during his first two DL stints this season.

In wake of the move, the Red Sox have called up 21-year-old outfielder, Mookie Betts, from AAA Pawtucket.

The Red Sox outfield in the near future is expected to feature: Allen Craig, Yoenis Cespedes and Brock Holt. Daniel Nava, Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. are expected to see time periodically or when Craig and or/ Holt get moved around due to the factor that they aren't just outfielders.
