Boston Celtics 2016 v Celtics 2017 - The Flawed Isaiah Thomas Defensive Line-up

Written by

The famed IT & D lineup has been a disappointment thus far.

Justin Poulin and Jon Duke discussed this and attempted to dissect the problem. Specifically that the “D” or defense is missing. “I think we need to start looking at Avery Bradley and start looking at Marcus Smart”.

The guys also talked DeMarcus Cousins his potential fit on the Celtics.  Justin admitted his stance on Cousins has softened and found him to answer so many areas that Boston struggles with. The conversation also included Al Horford’s preference to play the power forward position and Amir Johnson simply not being a strong enough big alongside him.

Balance on the roster was hit upon. Justin felt one balancing move, for example Cousins, could vault the Celtics into contention with Cleveland. While Duke was unsure since it’s the defense that is supposed to be the calling card of the team. Something that is sorely missing.

The small lineups of the Celtics were talked about as flawed.  Duke pointed out that perhaps Bradley is the player that should be moved because he too small at the shooting guard position.

The guys reviewed the top prospects in the coming draft and noted that it’s guard heavy. Something that doesn’t bode well for Boston’s needs.
