It appears Doc Rivers won’t be coaching the Clippers any time soon.
According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Rivers isn't sure he'll be coaching the Celtics either.
“Rivers is unsure about returning to the Boston Celtics as coach,” Wojnarowski reported, citing league sources.
The Celtics, however, apparently still want Rivers back to fulfill the remaining three years of his contract, according to Yahoo’s report. Whether or not he does is expected to be resolved in the next few days.
The deal with the Clippers broke over Boston’s insistence that L.A. include a second first round draft pick along with DeAndre Jordan, in exchange for Kevin Garnett and an the right to negotiate a contract with Rivers.
The Clippers informed the Celtics Tuesday morning that they were unwilling to meet Boston’s price tag and no further discussions were held.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Clippers will now move on to having more conversations with Byron Scott and Brian Shaw, though former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins, who interviewed with the team last week, remains a possibility as well.
