John Havlicek turns 74 on this day. Hondo, a small forward who played alongside Bill Russell and Sam Jones, is one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball.
The Ohio native is an 8-time NBA champion, 1974 NBA Finals MVP, 13-time All-Star and last but certainly not least, he is the Celtics all-time scorer with 26,395 points. Havlicek helped the Celtics significantly averaging 20.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game over the course of his 16-year career.
No. 17 is hanging in the TD Garden for a reason. Not only because of his impressive and historic statistics, but because he was a Celtic for his whole career and will live on with the green for the rest of his life.
