Andrew Wiggins will announce that he is declaring for the NBA Draft on Monday, according to sources. Wiggins and Kansas men's basketball Head Coach Bill Self have a press conference slated for 3 p.m. Monday, when they will likely make the announcement.
The freshman averaged 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game at KU this year. He is currently projected by many as the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, and will likely go no lower than No. 2 overall.
Wiggins is coming off a Big 12 Freshman of the Year selection and a first-team all-conference spot. He has shown flashed of brilliancy, scoring 20-plus points in 11 games. However, Wiggins also played in six games where he scored in single digits.
The six-foot-eight wing scored 41 points against West Virginia back on March 8. He shot 9 of 17 in that game and grabbed eight rebounds.
Kansas' season ended last week, when they were upset in their second game of the tournament by Stanford. Wiggins only scored four points on 1-of-6 shooting in the loss.
