Boston Celtics great & Indiana Pacers boss, Larry Bird, a fan of Rajon Rondo
INDIANAPOLIS -- Chalk up another fan to Rajon Rondo's game and persona.
This time, it's Boston Celtics legend and all-time great NBA player Larry Bird.
In an exclusive interview with the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett (and good friend of CLNS Radio), Bird let it all out in regards to the Celtics so-called 'mercurial' point guard:
“Yeah, I appreciate the hell out of him,” Bird told Bulpett.
“I don’t know him at all, but in the playoffs he’s showed that he’s one of the better players in our league. It’s unfortunate he got hurt (Rondo returned in January from a torn ACL), but he’s amazing to watch.
“To be able to defend and make plays for other guys, that’s big. He makes a lot of players that are not really good look pretty damn good. And that’s a key.
“If you can make people around you better, it makes you one of the top players in our league.”
Some will say that this may be just Bird saying nice things about the team he used to play for. However, Bird tried trading for Rondo right after the lockout in December of 2011.
Not only that, Larry Legend doesn't exactly shower praise on those he doesn't feel that deserve it. Heck, just getting anything out of Larry these days is a chore in itself.
Kudos to you, Mr. Bulpett.
