Garden Report: Jerryd Bayless Scores 29 Points as Celtics Control Hawks, 115-104

Written by

The Boston Celtics (20-39) came into Wednesday's game on a five-game losing skid, but their 115-104 victory over the Atlanta Hawks (26-31) in the TD Garden doesn't translate their performances as of late.

Boston struggled early in the game after allowing a 15-point deficit in the opening minutes of the first quarter with troubling turnovers and a lack of hustle plays.

"I thought I heard some boos early," Gerald Wallace said after the game. "We deserved it. We started out playing like we were in concrete."

The duo of Rajon Rondo and Jerryd Bayless arrived in the second half with an up-tempo offense and scoring efficiency. Rondo posted a double-double, scoring season-high 22 points and dished out 11 assists, and Bayless netted 12 of his season-high 29 points in the third quarter, shooting 5 of 8 from downtown.

Atlanta stuck around as much as possible with good use of the three ball, shooting 47-percent, but came up short with 25 points and allowing a 7-1 run with four minutes remaining in the fourth. The Hawks finished the game shooting 50-percent from the floor.

Jeff Teague contributed 26 points, 11-for-18 from the field and Carroll added 24 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Celtics had six players in double figures and shot an impressive 48-percent from the field. Wallace recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Boston will continue their five-game homestand against Indiana Pacers on Saturday at 8 p.m.
