The Boston Celtics may not trade their elite point guard after all.
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, who has in the past stated Rajon Rondo is their point guard and leader for the future, has told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich that the team has offered Rondo an extension worth star money.
Danny Ainge just told us that they offered Rondo an extension, and stated that Rondo would be paid star money.— Toucher and Rich (@Toucherandrich) January 23, 2014 This may come as a surprise to those who thought Rondo's days as a Celtic were numbered. But by the looks of this latest development, it seems like the 7-year floor general could stay in green for a while (pending his decision). The Celtics have said in the past that it would take a huge deal for them to deal their point guard so this breaking news shouldn't be shocking as Rondo nears his final year of his contract.
