Rajon Rondo to the D-League for rehab
BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics have issued a press release to the media informing them that they have assigned Rajon Rondo to the Maine Red Claws.
There had been rumors of Rondo going to Maine for a rehab assignment to improve his conditioning before his return. Now the move is official.
Via the Celtics' press release:
“Rajon is progressing terrifically in his rehab and this is the next step,” said Danny Ainge, Celtics President of Basketball Operations. “This is a brief assignment so that Rajon can participate in a workout this afternoon with the Red Claws and he will be called back up to the Celtics upon the conclusion of the workout.
With this latest move, coupled with the Celtics' trade of Jordan Crawford, a Rondo return on Friday is beginning to look like reality.
