Celtics Video: Reaction to Jeff Green's Buzzer Beater over Heat

Written by

BOSTON – Jeff Green’s remarkable buzzer beater in Miami was the biggest and most shocking moment of the young Celtics’ season. But the moment was even more extraordinary considering the inbounder didn’t even look his way.

“I never looked at Jeff,” Gerald Wallace said Monday. “Me and him talked coming out of the timeout and I asked him, Where is he gonna be at and where was he expecting to go?’ Was he going to stop short or was he going to keep going? He told me that he was going all the way to the deep corner and just get the ball to the deep corner.

“So my main focus was, I never paid attention to him, I paid more attention to Bosh and making sure those guys couldn’t switch or jump out in front of the passing lanes.”

After being told his pass was being labeled as Tom Brady-esque, serious Patriots fan Wallace joked, “Yeah, me and Brady was working on that in the offseason.”

But when asked about the shot, Green wasn’t dwelling on the moment. “It’s just added confidence. The game is over with now and now it’s on to the next game.”

It wasn’t really a game to remember if you are trying to develop a winning program.

When asked about the team’s defense, Stevens responded, “I’m probably the wrong to ask about our defensively right now.”

“We’ve had lineups out there that have done the job,” Stevens said. “But I don’t think we’ve played defense for a full 48-minutes.”

Considering Faverani, who has been limited by back issues, is the Celtics’ only formidable presence at the rim, it remains to be seen whether the undersized frontcourt can handle teams that take it to the rim (like Miami) or have talent in the post (like Orlando).
