Boston Celtics Summer League Roster and Schedule

Written by

The Celtics will begin play in the Orlando Summer League on July 7. Their roster was released today, and includes thirteen young players looking to make the Celtics training camp roster. Celtics Assistant Coach Jay Larranaga will be coaching the team.

The line up consists of the following players:

PG - Jayson Granger – The Uruguay native played professionally in Spain last year, averaging 12.6 points over 24 games.

PG – Phil Pressey – The Celtics added the former Missouri star immediately following the 2013 NBA draft. Last season he helped lead Missouri to the NCAA Tournament, averaging 11.9 points and 7.1 assists along the way. For a full scouting report on him, click here.

PG/SG - Darius Johnson-Odom – The former Marquette star was the 55th pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He played 13 games for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the D-League last season and averaged 20.6 points per game.

SG – Nolan Smith – The former Duke shooting guard was the 21st pick in the 2011 NBA draft. He appeared in 40 games last season, averaging 2.8 points over 7.2 minutes per game.

SG/SF – Courtney Fells – A former graduate of NC State, Fells has played professionally in the Dominican Republic, Cyprus, and Israel. Last season, he played in Israel and averaged 11.1 points over 24 games.

SG/SF – Omar Reed – He played in the NCAA at Bluefield College. Upon graduating, he earned a spot on the Maine Red Claws in the NBA D-League last season, where he averaged 5.4 points in 44 games with the team.

SF – Tony Mitchell – Mitchell will be one of the more interesting players to watch during the Summer League. The former Alabama star was named NBADL Rookie of the Year last season, as he averaged 21.9 points and 6/4 rebounds per game.

PF – Tim Abromatis – The former Notre Dame star last played competitively in 2011-2012, as a knee injury rendered him incapable of competing this past season. He finished his three year college career having averaged 13.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

PF – Lawrence Hill – The former Stanford player has played for several teams in the D-League. He played professionally in Israel last season, where he averaged 12.8 points over 27 games.

PF/C – Eli Holman – He played three NCAA seasons for the Detroit Titans, but he was removed from the team his senior year due to assault allegations. In his last season on the team, he averaged 10.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

PF/C – Kelly Olynyk – The Celtics selected Olynyk with the 13th pick in the 2013 NBA draft. As a senior at Gonzaga last season, he averaged 17.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. For a full scouting report on Olynyk, click here.

C – Fab Melo – Melo is the most recognizable name on the roster, as the Celtics selected him in the first round of last year’s NBA draft. He appeared in six games for the Celtics last season, and his role is expected to increase this year.

C – Colton Iverson – The Celtics traded cash to the Pacers in exchange for the 53rd pick in the 2013 NBA draft. With the pick, the Celtics selected Iverson, who averaged 14.2 points and 9.8 rebounds as a senior at Colorado State last season. For a full scouting report on him, click here.

While there are many intriguing names on the roster, the main players to watch will be Phil Pressey, Tony Mitchell, Kelly Olynyk, Colton Iverson, and Fab Melo. These players are the most likely to appear on the Celtics 2013 roster, as they all have NBA talent.

Watch to see if the other players earn a roster spot on the Celtics D-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.

The Celtics have four games scheduled in the summer league:

Sunday, July 7 at 11 AM – Boston vs. Orlando

Monday, July 8 at 3 PM – Boston vs. Detroit

Tuesday, July 9 at 11 AM – Boston vs. Indiana

Wednesday, July 10 at 3 PM – Boston vs. Houston
