Boston Celtics to consider signing Greg Oden

Written by

According to espn.com, the Boston Celtics are a potential suitor for former Portland center Greg Oden.

Oden, 25, has been considered a bust since being selected with the first overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft as he has only played in 82 career games.

His last "healthy" season came in 2009-2010, where he played in 21 games, averaging 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

While Oden has not set foot on an NBA court since December 5, 2009, he is expected to be ready for the start of the 2013-2014 season.

Signing Oden would make sense for Boston as the team has no NBA ready centers. Fab Melo and Colton Iverson could eventually develop into starting centers, but neither of them are proven at the NBA level.

Other potential destinations for Oden include San Antonio, Miami, Cleveland, and Memphis.
