The NBA has instead decided that the Kings will remain in Sacramento following the proposed sale of the team from the Maloof brothers to an investment group led by Christopher Hansen.
Per the New York Times, Hansen intended on moving the team to Seattle once the sale was complete. In February of this year, David Stern announced that the Seattle ownership group had indeed filed with the NBA for franchise relocation from Sacramento to Seattle.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, an NBA owners' committee unanimously recommended the team not be moved to Seattle and be kept in Sacramento.
The committee's recommendation is not the final say-so in the matter; however, Windhorst adds that the owners will vote a week after the findings to make a final decision to leave or to stay put. The owners are, however, expected to vote following the recommendations.
