NEW YORK – It’s been a game of runs, but the Celtics are riding Jeff Green to a 53-49 lead at the half. Green has 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, hitting all three of his shots from beyond the arch and making several stops at the rim on Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin.
Anthony has 19 points on the other end, but is shooting just 2-for-11 since getting off to a hot 4-for-4 start to get the Knicks the early lead. Melo is being covered intermittently by Green and Brandon Bass, who are both doing an impressive job walling him off from penetration and sticking with him on crossovers and ball fakes.
Avery Bradley has been scoring frequently on cuts to the rim, getting the ball from Paul Pierce drawing double teams on the bock. Bradley has 11 points while Pierce has six assists.
J.R. Smith had a brief flurry to put him into double digits, shooting 5-for-7. The Knicks continue to shoot phenomenally from deep, especially in transition, but the Celtics have a 22-16 lead in points in the paint.
