Written by
--MEMPHIS-- Memphis - 110, Boston - 106 The Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies were battling the entire game Saturday. The Grizzlies won 110-106 over the Celtics. With Kevin Garnett out once again for Boston, it took all they had to try and best Memphis. But in the end, they were unsuccessful. At the end of the first quarter, it looked like the Celtics were playing well. They were in the lead 31-29. Just when Boston was ruling, Memphis took the second quarter over and led 61-51. The third quarter was close, just like the first quarter. Memphis scored two more points than Boston, to make it 24-22 that quarter. Boston won the fourth quarter 33-25, but Memphis was just too much for Boston, and won a close one.Marc Gasol did not play because of an abdominal tear, so just like Boston, Memphis needed their other guys to step up. Zach Randolph had 15 points and 11 rebounds. The high man for Memphis was Jerryd Bayless with 30 points off the bench. Darrell Arthur had 18 points and seven rebounds in one of his first starts of the season. For Boston, it was Paul Pierce that led the way with 26 points and six rebounds. Jordan Crawford had a huge game off the bench with 21 points, the most he's scored for Boston in his young career with them so far.Jason Terry scored 10 points, while Jeff Green, who once again started, scored 12 points. Brandon Bass once again struggled. He scored only six points in 30 minutes. Shavlik Randolph once again played, scoring four points in a little over eight minutes. Boston recently signed Randolph to a multi-year contract.Boston is now 36-33, and seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. They are one and a half games back behind the Chicago Bulls, and one and a half games in front of the Milwaukee Bucks. Only four and a half games separate the fourth and seventh seeds in the conference, with the Brooklyn Nets being fourth.Memphis improves to 47-22, and they stay put in the fifth playoff spot in the Western Conference standings.Boston will travel back home to TD Garden to face the New York Knicks on Tuesday night.
