Is Cleveland starting their downward descent? The Cavs are compared to the last Celtics regime that slowly lost due to age and an inability to put together a competent supporting cast. “I think it’s going to be a tougher road and their ceiling is lower than it was a month ago” says Jon. “This team is vulnerable, maybe? But we’re not going know until the second round” says Justin.
Justin believes the Celtics have low wear and tear due to the injuries that have occurred over the year and forced rest on several key players. It’s important for the team play it’s best rotations in the remaining games and build chemistry now that everyone is relatively healthy.
Jae Crowder’s weird injury is discussed. Could this be a problem moving forward as things become more physical? Will he re-aggravate it at some point? Sitting him is an option, however he needs to gear up for the post season both for himself and for the continuity of the team. Jon feels the team is still not right, but will need to find their way in the playoffs.
The guys are ecstatic that the Dancing Bear Guerschon Yabusele is now playing for the Red Claws. Is he another version of Big Baby? NO! says Jon Duke, “Yabusele puts Big Baby in the Corner”. Defensively, Yabusele is not there at this point and that should limit his minutes next season if he is on the team. He is athletically a freak and offensive rebounder, but not a playmaker says Jon.
The ESPN re-draft of the 2016 rookies is reviewed. The Celtics have 3 of the top 7 players ranked with Yabusele and Zizic making the list. Both players also placed ahead of Jaylen Brown. Is this accurate? Can the two rookies come in over the next few seasons and become part of the core under team controlled contracts? The validity of the ranking is bandied about given some of the other questionable selections on the list.
