Carmelo Anthony Anyone?

Written by

Justin and Jon reviewed the week, which included ugly home losses to the Knicks and Blazers.

“Who’s gonna be the second scorer next to Isaiah Thomas?” Justin believes it will be difficult to find both a scorer and rebounder at the trade deadline.

The rookie of the year award was discussed, specifically Joel Embid’s eligibility as a weird fit. Jon calls Isaiah Thomas not starting in the All Star game a snub. Justin disagrees since it was the fan’s vote that was responsible. “The fans are idiots” says Justin!

Phil Jackson’s tenure with the New York Knicks is reviewed and leads into the hot topic that is Carmelo Anthony. Should the Celtics be interested? What happens when Brad Stevens has to deal with the star player that has always gotten his way? What is the right package?

What head case would be a better fit? DeMarcus Cousins or Carmelo Anthony? Jon points out that while Cousins is a growth stock, Carmelo is 32. If you trade for Carmelo, you are also out of the running for free agents this summer. Would you rather have Gordon Hayward or Carmelo?

Justin believes Boston must do something at the trade deadline to make the best possible playoff run. Having a great showing will attract free agents.

Finally the guys fantasized over some of the top players coming out of this year’s draft and how they could look in a Celtics uniform.
