Celtics center Faverani arrested in Spain for drunk driving

Written by

Still rehabbing from knee surgery, Celtics big man Vitor Faverani was arrested for drunk driving in Spain.

The Boston Celtics made offseason headlines for all of the wrong reasons, as center Vitor Faverani was arrested in Valencia, Spain for drunk driving.

According to reports, Faverani ran a red light and hit a bus. Thankfully there were no injuries reported. Per La Opinion de Malaga, a local newspaper, Faverani was three times above the legal limit.

Celtics officials have yet to make an announcement. The NBA typically awaits for the legal process to unfold before deciding on a suspension. Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker was recently arrested for drunk driving after registering a .222 blood alcohol limit, nearly three times the legal limit.

Faverani finished his shortened rookie season with averages of 4.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. With the team's offseason acqusition of center Tyler Zeller, and a crowded roster as it stands, Faverani's spot may have just opened up.
