Bruins' Assistant Geoff Ward Resigns, To Coach In Germany

After coaching on the Bruins since 2007, assistant coach, Geoff Ward, is finally getting the oppertunity to become a head coach.

The Boston Bruins announced Thursday afternoon that Ward will be stepping down due to the fact that he accepted a headcoaching with the Mannheim Eagles in the German Deutsche Eishockey Liga next season.

Ward spent 12 coaching hockey in the OHL and AHL and two in Germany before he joined the Bruins.

While coaching the Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliate, Hamilton, Ward one coach of the honors.

Ward will coach one of the best teams in Germany as Mannheim second in the DEL standings with a 33-16-2-1(99 points) record.

It is unclear who will take Ward's place on the Bruins staff.
