With forward Daniel Paille potentially missing tomorrow afternoon's matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Boston Bruins on Friday recalled forward Matt Lindblad from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Lindblad, who is in his first full professional season has produced 22 points (7 goals 15 assists) in 43 games for Providence after being signed out of Dartmouth College last spring. He is known for being a solid defensive forward and has the potential to be a solid third winger/center. Although he is played forward, Lindblad has played some center in the past and is good on faceoffs.
This first NHL stint could be a short one for him since Paille is expected to return to the Bruins lineup within next few days but if Lindblad performs well in this stint up in Boston, the team could look to use him as an extra forward over Jordan Caron. Caron has been up and down in his play this season but Lindblad has some impressive skills that the team needs to get a look at for the future.
