Bruins sign Dartmouth's Matt Lindblad to entry-level contract

Written by

On Friday morning, Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced that the team has signed Dartmouth College forward Matt Lindland to an entry-level deal that will sink for the 2013-14 season. Lindblad, who just completed his junior year with the Big Storm, posted impressive colliegate numbers racking up 80 points (29 goals 51 assists) in 89 career games. He is considered to be a good playmaking forward with some scoring ability but will need to gain some minor league experience before possibly making an impact in Boston.  Currently, the Bruins have one more roster spot open as they have 49 contracts and with Lindblad's not setting in until next fall, it gives Chiarelli the option to bring over Carl Soderberg once his team's playoffs are over.  The 6'1 200 lbs Lindblad finished second on his team in scoring and could give Providence some scoring with the AHL playoffs in sight. He will have to sign an ATO (Amateur Try Out) with the P-Bruins, so his contract won't be incorperatedinto this season since it's almost over. With Lindblad and defenseman Chris Casto both recently signed, these two moves could bode for the Boston if they ever need future assets if injuries happen. Both could impress and down the line possibly make an impact on this Bruins team.
