Boston Bruins promote Keith Gretzky, make other personnel moves

Written by

On Tuesday, the Boston Bruins announced the promotion of Keith Gretzky to director of amateur scouting and the hiring of former Boston Bruin P.J. Axelsson as a European scout. In addition, they also hired Keith Sullivan as an amateur scout.

Gretzky is the brother of Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, and he previously served as an amateur scout for the team. He joined the Black and Gold in 2011.

Axelsson spent his entire 11-year career with the Bruins and tallied 103 goals and 184 assists for 287 points in 797 games for Boston. Even though he has not played for the Bruins since 2009, he has remained close with the team and has attended games whenever he is in Boston.

Sullivan joins the team as an amateur scout after spending four seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes and last season in the United States Hockey League as the general manager of the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

In what has been a busy offseason for the team player-personnel wise, the Bruins added scouting personnel that should assist in building a successful pipeline for the future, something that the Bruins have done well in recent years.
