NEW YORK-- With the New York Rangers down in an 0-3 hole, nothing seems to be going right for them. They are frustrated, and the man between the pipes Henrik Lundqvist thinks that maybe luck is not on his team’s side. Joe McDonald of ESPNBoston.com reported that the goaltender states the Boston Bruins have gotten “lucky” on multiple scoring occasions.
“I’ve looked at a few games and they definitely got some lucky bounces,” Lundqvist said Thursday morning. “Last game I blame the loss on lucky bounces, but they haven’t changed the way they’re playing. They shoot from the point and they get a lot of people in front of the net. That’s what they do and they’re good at it. You just have to play them hard and make sure we make it tough for them to get in front.”
The comments from the goaltender excited a reaction from team bruiser Milan Lucic.
“When you work hard and you put the time in sometimes you get rewarded by being lucky,” Lucic said. “The old saying: You’ve got to be lucky to be good. Good to be lucky.”
This is not exactly an earth-shattering comment made by Lundqvist, but it has the potential to give the Bruins extra motivation for tonight’s game. With a trip to the next round a win away, the team should not need it. However, it never hurts to get a little extra boost.
