Bruins assign D Matt Bartkowski to Providence

Written by

With American Hockey League (AHL) playoffs beginning tonight, the Boston Bruins have assigned defenseman Matt Bartkowski to the Providence Bruins to help them in their quest for a Calder Cup title.

Bartkowski, who has been used sparingly by Boston lately appeared in 11 games and racked up two assists. In 56 games with AHL Bruins, Bartkowski scored three goals and tallied 21 assists for 24 points.

He will be in uniform tonight for Providence, who starts a first round playoff matchup with the Hersey Bears at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. It would be shocking to see Bartkowski appear in another game for Boston even come playoff time with the amount of depth they have on the blueline.
