On Monday, it was announced that Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs and former Bruins player Mark Recchi will be elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

On November 13th, Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs will be elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame, the league announced on Monday.

His biggest achievement, of course, was 2011 when the black and gold were crowned Stanley Cup Champions after they beat the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7.

Jacobs said on a conference call that this came as a total surprise.

He first bought the team from the Storer Broadcasting Company in 1975. He never had much to do with contract negotiations until 2006 when he approved one significant contract - that of now-captain Zdeno Chara on a five-year, $37.5 million contract.

The team also signed Marc Savard that day to a four-year, $20 million deal.

In his fourth year of eligibility, Recchi was also named to the Hockey Hall of Fame. He said it is "absolutely incredible and humbling."

He played for seven teams in his 22-year career, including the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won championships with the Pens, Carolina Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins in his final season in 2011.
