Thumbs Down: Bruins McQuaid Sidelined, 6-8 Weeks, With Broken Thumb.

Written by

The Boston Bruins sure could use a defenseman right now, that’s for sure, but what are they going to do?

Tuesday, the Boston Bruins, shutout the St.Louis Blues, the final score: 2-0. The price they paid for the win? A broken thumb for defenseman, Adam McQuaid, who now joins Zedno Chara, Torey Krug and David Warsofsky watching from the press box, waiting to get healed up.

McQuaid, will miss 6-8 weeks, the team announced via their website, yesterday.

So far this season, McQuaid, has played in all 20 games, registering, one goal, one assist, a plus-2 rating and 19 penalty minutes.

The Bruins gambled at the beginning for the season, hoping that McQuaid’s injury past, would not reappear this season. Opting to trade fellow defenseman and former teammate, Johnny Boychuck, to the New York Islanders.

Salary dumps suck, but that is life in the NHL, growing pains come following recent success.

So far, that trade, has cost the Bruins in the present, with Boychuck thriving in long island, the team is not left sorting through their patchwork blueline, trying to find ways to keep it together.
